Swarthmore business owners get ready to host back-to-back weekends of holiday festivities with a full schedule of hometown events.

Downtown Swarthmore is getting set to host two big holiday festivals–geared at driving small business, and new faces, to their community. A sleepy little sister to megawatt Media, Swarthmore has gained momentum in the past few years thanks to motivated merchants who want to grow their businesses.

Swarthmore Town Center is hosting their annual Home for the Holidays on Saturday, December 6th. It is a full day of holiday fun and festivities. Home for the Holidays is from 10am to 6pm and features a morning reindeer dash, historical trolley tours, a winter shopping village (new this year!) complete with mulled wine and hot toddies, a Kwanzaa celebration, live music and a Santa parade at 5pm. In addition, on Friday, December 12th from 5pm to 8pm, the Merchants of Swarthmore celebrate the season with a holiday night market on Park Avenue. Night Market is rain or shine and will feature late night shopping with local merchants, holiday music, pop-up vendors, tasty food and drink and more. The Facebook event page is here.

An anchor of the village of Swarthmore is the Park Avenue Community Center. The Park Avenue Community Center has back-to-back Saturday events as well. Yuletide Yoga and Mimosas, Saturday December 6th, features a rejuvenating yoga session led by Mary Thompson with delightful mimosas, bagels and scones in the company of fellow yogis. A Victorian Tea will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 2pm to 4pm. It is $45 per person. The enchanting afternoon at the community center includes a traditional English tea service set to the shimmering sounds of live harp music. Reservations are $45 per person. More information here.
