While the Philadelphia region is throwing around the word Semiquincentennial, the official, albeit quirky historical term for America’s 250th anniversary, a simpler name–but just as important of a milestone – is taking place with a summer tradition in the rolling countryside of Chester County.

Brandywine Polo Club, one of the oldest and largest polo clubs on the East Coast, opens its landmark 75th Anniversary season (aka Diamond Jubilee) on Sunday, May 31st, at its 122-acre facility in Kennett Square. The public is invited to attend Opening Day with match play beginning at 3pm.The 2026 season runs Sunday, May 31st through Sunday, September 27th.

The first Friday sunset polo session of the season stays as originally planned (before Mother Nature offset the opening Sunday by a week). That is set for Friday, May 29th 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Founded in 1951 by Yale intercollegiate player James McHugh, Brandywine Polo Club has grown into the largest USPA-sanctioned club on the Eastern Circuit, drawing thousands of spectators each summer to the rolling hills of southern Chester County. This year’s 75th Anniversary Season promises to be the most exciting in the club’s history. “This is a milestone year for our club and for our community,” said Elizabeth Hedley, Sponsorships and Media Relations, Brandywine Polo Club. “We’ve been bringing the sport of polo to the Brandywine Valley for 75 years, and this season we’re celebrating that legacy with a lineup of events that is truly once in a generation.”

Not to be missed at the polo fields is the elegant and beautiful backdrop where cocktails and conversation flow–The Polo Bar by Casa Carmen Winery. Casa Carmen, a family owned and operated winery out of West Grove, PA has elegantly reintroduced vermouth, an old-fashioned spirit, into the modern world for a new generation to enjoy. A fortified and aromatized wine, vermouth combines wine, spirit, botanicals, and sugar to create the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Casa Carmen’s approachable spirits are made with natural botanicals and real cane sugar, bringing you outstanding flavor and drinkability.
