Bagels & Co., owned by Glu Hospitality, opened that spot on October 17th, 2024. By September 2nd this fall, less than a year later, it had closed.
Fast forward to the end of this year and a lot of new breakfast and bagel spots have sprouted–or are coming soon–to one of the Main Line’s most popular downtowns. As they say, when one door shuts–another one opens. In this case—many doors.
Bored Trading Cafe
Bored Trading Cafe opened on December 19th–taking over the vacant spot on Cricket Avenue that formerly housed Bagels & Co. Their Facebook page touts them as “an all-day café serving chef-inspired, made-to-order food and in-house roasted coffee.” It appears they have other locations in West Chester and a pop-up in Old City. (We reached out to these folks for some business info and clarification but as of press time we had not heard back from them.)
The Bored Trading Cafe menu offers a definitive selection of breakfast classics and a whole lot of savory lunch options. We loved all of it but some standouts, well, stood out: breakfast burrito, monte cristo, french toast sticks, croissant burger, chicken tenders, danishes, cruffins and croissants. In addition to all-day breakfast options, they also serve smoothies and a wide variety of java, matcha, tea and espresso-based beverages.
By the way, we are confident The Bored people are anything but boring or bored, lol. An instagram story on our AroundMainLine feed announcing their opening absolutely BLEW up our engagement with a record amount of eyeballs. Ardmore, your breakfast jawn has arrived.

Malvern Buttery
In July of 2015, Malvern Buttery opened in Eastside Flats on King Street in Malvern. Fast forward a decade plus with new owners and a recent rapid expansion with Main Line-centric locations, and this isn’t Kansas, ‘er Malvern, anymore Toto.
One of the newest Buttery spots is inside the Ardmore Farmers Market (with a stall) in Suburban Square. It opened the first week of October. And unlike the Wayne Farmers Market, the Ardmore Market is open 7 days a week. Malvern Buttery boasts freshly baked goods like croissants, baguettes and artisanal breads–and has become known for their clearly defined, elevated aesthetic to breakfast.
Plans for a third location in Bryn Mawr are under construction at the old Kindred Collective fashion boutique and slated for a Spring 2026 timeline. A smaller footprint of Malvern Buttery was at the Malvern Train Station for a short time (we just love that building) but it closed for good on December 19th.

The Brewroom
Eleni and Danny Chrisidis, of Newtown Square, opened a European-inspired specialty coffee shop in downtown Ardmore on October 12th. The cafe selections are rooted in their Greek heritage and include everyone’s favorite–Spanakopita.
We were hired this summer to promote The Brewroom—pre-opening. You probably have seen them on our socials and on our website here with this coming soon feature.
The Brewroom is planning a Grand Opening on Saturday, January 10th from 12pm to 4pm complete with a DJ, complimentary chocolate martinis, free food samples and surprises. Plus, a custom aluminium bottle gift for the first 100 guests. It is free to attend and children are welcome. Follow their social media channels for more information.

Pop Up Bagels
Location. Location. Location. Bodacious marketing with a true, gritty NYC state of mind, Pop Up Bagels is the biggest personality poised to make an impact on a very competitive breakfast Ardmore scene when they open in Suburban Square in early 2026. Their address is 10 Coulter Avenue–directly across from Shake Shack and a hop, skip and and a jump from SoulCycle with plenty of parking in the public lot adjacent to the train station.
Everything about these guys says bigger-bolder-better. From their killer website to the ridiculously inventive schmears that had our heads exploding (Matcha? Blueberry rumble? Brown sugar cinnamon butter? Gingerbread?), to their almost 50K bussin TikTok feed this is bagel A-game stuff.
A boutique bagel franchise started in 2020 by two Connecticut guys (I’m a UConn grad so they most certainly have my attention), Pop Up has been opening up nonstop locations. Check out their IG or TikTok feed–and brace yourself for a tsunami of schmear, my dears. Did I mention we are kind of excited to pop over and see the drip in person? Open up soon…Pop Up!
