Join Santa on his journey to spread the magic of the season to thousands of families who believe at Strasburg Rail Road’s Santa’s Paradise Express.

Just in time for the holidays, Santa’s Paradise Express is pulling in to Strasburg Rail Road Thanksgiving weekend, starting November 26, 2010. Join Santa on his journey to spread the magic of the season to thousands of families who believe. This year, Santa’s Paradise Express will chug along the tracks mid-morning through late afternoons on November 26-28, December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19th.

The Christmas celebration begins on the platform of the East Strasburg Station as the sounds of the season fill the air. Relax as an authentic vintage steam train, warmed by a potbelly stove, takes its passengers on a 45-minute ride, traveling past more than 1,000 acres of picturesque farmland on its way to Paradise, PA. Santa, carolers and musicians will stroll from car-to-car, greeting and entertaining families.

On September 25 and 26, Dutch Wonderland will celebrate Princess Brooke’s love of reading with special appearances by such favorite children’s books characters as the Cat in the Hat, Corduroy the Bear, Frog and Toad, and more.

Many families might think of Dutch Wonderland as a popular summer destination in Lancaster County. But, coming up this fall are a bunch of great seasonal activities planned to enjoy. From Readers’ Jamboree that embraces the parks commitment to childhood literacy, to Fall Farm Days and Happy Hauntings, the three special events offer plenty of affordable and festive entertainment.

Bethany Alwan is the Senior Director, Branded Operations for Dutch Wonderland Family Entertainment Complex. “We are really open almost 8 to 9 months of the year which many people might not realize. One of the most popular fall events is, of course, Happy Hauntings where we have a lot of fun embracing a Halloween theme. We transform the park so that the merry-go-round becomes the Scareeeee-Go-Round, Roller Ghoasters, and the Trick or Treat Trail. The Strasburg Railroad’s ‘Santa Paradise Express’ has been a family tradition for thousands across the Delaware Valley for fifty-one years. “I think riding with Santa on the train is just a different experience then seeing Santa in a traditional atmosphere-like the mall where the children sit on his lap for a minute or two and pose for a picture. On the Paradise Express, Santa comes to the kids and the family-and that is something very special,” explained Strasburg’s Event Manager Ric Gochenauer. Many families visit Strasburg every holiday season, some returning for decades bringing back generations of family members for the ride. This year Strasburg added a third weekend for the annual adventure (starting with Thanksgiving weekend) and expects over 10,000 riders for the ’09 Express.
