Hob Nob Home is the chic setting for our next Monday Night Meetup on May 3rd in Wayne. Kindly RSVP on AML’s Facebook page.
Hob Nob Home is the Main Line’s newest home design co-op spearheaded by renowned interior design Valerie Pogue. The spacious second floor locale, home of the former Scallywags and next door to Chilis in Wayne, is the gorgeous setting for our next AML Monday Night Meetup.
Pogue is a graduate of the Moore College of Art and Design who worked for Allison Forbes of Forbes Design in Berwyn for two years. The Haverford native has had Hob Nob Interiors since 2000. She opened the store this January and has quickly filled it with a fine group of home décor and interior design accents, while keeping a keen eye out for new local talent who fits her design philosophy.
Pogue’s son Jamie, jamiepogue.com, is a talented illustrator whose artwork graces the walls of the boutique. He specializes in children’s book illustration and fine art oil paintings featuring landscapes, portraits and still lifes. Other designers as part of the co-op include local artist Ann C. Snyder, ML Wilcox of Wayne’s former French Lemon boutique, Jood Thompson of Tableau and Karen Lander of Drapery Design.
AroundMainLine.com: Describe your design style and approach.
Valerie Pogue: European, Mediterranean and British design elements always work their way into my style. I try to purchase ‘made in America’ goods whenever possible, but also buy from France, England and Italy. I design eclectically and fun for the store, with serious consideration concerning scale and proportion. It is different purchasing for the store than individual clients. I like to have something for everyone. I encourage people to bring in their digital photos printed out from their computers, so I can show them the next step in their projects by drawing right on the picture. It is an easy way to help them go in the right direction! Color consulting is one of my specialties.
AML: How did the store come about?
VP: I found this space when I had decided not to renew my lease in Malvern, and rented it. I invited some of my friends from Nesting Feathers to join me. I feel very fortunate to have found this space before it was actively on the market. The light and the floor plan lent itself to our concept here.
AML: How would you describe the design style and feel of the co-op team?
VP: I believe we all complement each other with our styles, while keeping our individuality. I made sure I picked businesses that would give us enough variety without overlapping, and this way can satisfy many more tastes, styles and needs. Now that we are settling in some, we will all be taking turns working in the store.
