A Taste of Britain is a cozy cafe and tea room. Our restaurant features full afternoon tea with scones, tea sandwiches, decadent pastries, and loose leaf teas. We also offer English favorites such pasties, pot pies, and Welsh Rarebit, along with soups, salads, frittatas, and sandwiches. We seat from 10 – 4, Monday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended, especially at lunchtime and on Saturdays.
We offer take-out and full-service catering for your next get-together, and the shop is available to rent out on Sundays for groups of 20 – 50 guests.
Our retail area features our premium loose leaf teas, fun tea accessories, and lovely teapots and cups. In addition we have a fantastic variety of imported British goods. We carry everything that the Brit in your life craves: Digestives, Branston Pickles, Walkers Crisps, PG Tips, proper marmalades (Frank Cooper, Chivers, Duerrs, Tiptree), and a huge assortment of Cadbury, Nestle, and Mars sweets.
Our Christmas selection is not to be missed. Toffees and shortbreads, boxes and tins of chocolates and biscuits, seasonal teas, Christmas crackers, Advent calendars, jams and custard and mincemeat, traditional puddings and mince pies, and of course gift certificates! Founded in 1992, Flag Lady Gifts is located on the “Main Line” between Philadelphia and historic Valley Forge. The owner, Jan Hartman, began by designing and sewing decorative banners on her dining room table, which she originally sold at local holiday fairs. In 1993 she opened a charming shop in Eagle Village Shoppes in Wayne, selling both flags and gifts. One expansion and several years later, we had outgrown the location. In 2001, we moved across the street to our current airy two-level store on the corner of Lancaster Avenue and Conestoga Road, right across from the Strafford Farmers Market.
