Destined to become the Main Line’s most beloved supermarket, Wegmans King of Prussia is booming with thousands of shoppers a day! Within a 10-mile radius of the new store, there are already 64,000 people who have Wegmans’ Shoppers Club card.

At last!

Sometimes the impossible just takes a little longer. That’s the case for Wegmans’ new 123,000 sq. ft. King of Prussia store located at the intersection of North Gulph and North Warner Roads, which opened Sunday, May 6th.

It was 1996 when Wegmans first set its sights on one day opening a store in King of Prussia. There were 54 Wegmans stores, at the time, in two states (NY and PA), and just 5 of those stores were in Pennsylvania. The company identified the Greater Philadelphia area as an ideal place for what Wegmans was uniquely positioned to offer: incredible service and selection, restaurant-quality prepared foods, and low prices. In the years since, Wegmans has opened stores in South Jersey, and in Downingtown, Warrington, Collegeville, and Malvern, PA, patiently waiting for the time when a site would come together in King of Prussia.

Fast forward to 2012: There are now 80 Wegmans stores in six states, with 15 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the list of places finally includes King of Prussia.

“It took a while for us to get here,” says King of Prussia Store Manager Kevin Lang, “so you can imagine how eager we were to open our doors to new shoppers and to those who have traveled the extra distance to shop at our other stores waiting for this one to open.” Within a 10-mile radius of the new store, there are already 64,000 people who have Wegmans’ Shoppers Club card, and new people are signing up every day on the King of Prussia store’s dedicated web site, according to Lang.

Lang and his team of 600 employees (550 new-to-the company) have been working for months to hire and train the best and get the place ready for what is expected to be a very successful 2012.

Executive Chef Chris Happel is part of that team. His focus: The Market Café, which seats 300 indoors and outdoors, including The Pub where food is served to order. “The Pub at this store has double the seating capacity of our other Pubs,” says Happel, “and includes a bar for more than 30 and booth and banquette seating for 80.” A first for Wegmans, debuting at this store, is an outdoor fireplace for dining al fresco.

The highly anticipated exhibition From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen officially opened to the public Friday, February 17th at the National Constitution Center. The exhibition—never before seen outside of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum—opens just weeks before the American singer/songwriter is set to release his new album and embark on a new world tour. From Asbury Park to the Promised Land runs at the Center through September 3, 2012.

“From Asbury Park to the Promised Land offers a unique perspective on our First Amendment freedoms, the meaning of the American dream and the role of artists in politics and protest,” said National Constitution Center President and CEO David Eisner. “And, of course, Bruce Springsteen strikes an even deeper chord here in Philly, where the love of Bruce runs almost as deep as the love of freedom.”

“I worked very closely with Bruce and his organization to put this exhibit together,” said Jim Henke, vice president of exhibitions and chief curator at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. “It’s a comprehensive look at Bruce’s entire career and contains numerous items that have never been seen by the public. The exhibit was a huge hit when it was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and I am very happy that even more people will be able to see it now that it’s at the National Constitution Center.”

From Asbury Park to the Promised Land takes a comprehensive look at Springsteen’s career and catalog, from such early bands as Child, the Castiles and Steel Mill through his work with the E Street Band and as a solo artist. Throughout the 5,000-square-foot exhibition, visitors will have the rare opportunity to view more than 150 items, including:

• Family photos of Springsteen’s childhood in Asbury Park, N.J.
• Scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings, photos and handbills from Springsteen’s early music endeavors
• Handwritten lyrics from all phases of Springsteen’s career
• Springsteen’s 1960 Chevrolet Corvette
• Springsteen’s Fender Esquire from the cover of Born to Run
• The outfit Springsteen wore on the cover of Born in the U.S.A.
• Springsteen’s 1993 Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Streets of Philadelphia”

The exhibition also features several listening stations where visitors can hear never-before-released songs by the Castiles; Springsteen’s successful 1972 audition for Columbia Records; and interviews with Springsteen on topics such as his songwriting process, his first recording session, and some of his best known albums. Video footage throughout the exhibition includes archival performances, an edited version of Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run, and clips of Springsteen’s appearance on MTV Unplugged in 1992.

To complement the exhibition, the Center’s public programming staff has developed a variety of interactive programs and activities for students, teachers and families about the importance of free expression. The Center also is presenting a series of special events celebrating the music of Bruce Springsteen.

From noon until 3pm on Saturday, February 25, 2012, the Main Line Bridal Event will feature the area’s most trusted and carefully selected wedding experts offering the best advice, wedding specials and packages. This is the perfect opportunity for couples, moms, bridesmaids and wedding planners to get together for an enjoyable afternoon to speak with local and regional experts on all the aspects of wedding planning.

Brides and guests will enjoy an entertaining and unforgettable fashion show presented by Van Cleve Wedding Pavilion, Sagets Formal Wear and Bernie Robbins Jewelers while admiring the trendy new looks in hair and make-up by Jay Michael Salon and Spa. Models will be carrying exquisite fresh bridal bouquets provided by participating floral designers. And, guests will enjoy scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and delight in the spectacular premium Belgian chocolate fountain with fresh strawberries, crème puffs, pretzels and marshmallows courtesy of The Radnor Hotel.

In one fun afternoon brides-to-be may register with The Registry at Bloomingdale’s, sample delicious cakes from Bredenbeck’s Bakery, Cakes & Candies by Maryellen and The Master’s Baker, plan their honeymoon with Kitty Ward Travel and receive the latest issues of Philadelphia Wedding magazine and The Knot magazine. They will also get to view the wonderful work of photographers, videographers, stationers, and meet DJ’s and entertainers.

Raffles will offer brides a variety of door prizes donated by the participating partners and one lucky winner will win the Grand Prize: A Romantic 3-Night Honeymoon at the all-inclusive Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, Dominican Republic courtesy of Kitty Ward Travel in Newtown Square!
